Western Canada's top MMA promotion returns as Hard Knocks Fighting Championship presents School of Hard Knocks 29: Calgary, October 26 at the Century Casino. The action packed 12-bout pro/am card features many of the top up and coming superstars of the Great White North. HKFC is the top proving ground for rising prospects in Western Canada and the 29th installment promises to deliver great fights once again.
In the main event, Quinton McCottrell (9-8) fighting out of Validation MMA in Texas, USA fights Ryan Machan (17-7) fighting out of Arashi-Do Red Deer in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada in a welterweight matchup. McCottrell has fought all around the country, facing some tough competition on the regional circuit. McCottrell likes to mix up his attacks with both standup and grappling and has both sensational wins coming via KO and submission. Machan is on a 3-fight win streak all via stoppage and has been hitting on all cylinders lately as his MMA game has never been better. Machan has fought a who's who of Canadian welterweights and looks to continue his dominance against the gritty American. Both fighters love to stand in the middle of the cage and attack, either with punches, kicks, or go for takedowns. This should be a competitive bout in the 170 lb division.
In co-main event, Mitch McPhee (3-1) from Independent MMA in Calgary, Alberta fights Jesse Thorton (3-2) from Validation MMA/US Army in Fort Hood, Texas, USA in a bantamweight showdown. McPhee is a Hard Knocks veteran and loves to jump out of the gates quickly to try and put his opponents on their heels. He also has the cardio to go a full fight as most bantamweights have tons of energy. McPhee will have the home crowd behind him as he takes on the American. For Thorton, is making the trip of from Texas and is known for swinging for the fences and looking for the KO at all times. Thorton is a fan favorite because of his continual ability to push the pace and he will look to do just that against McPhee. Both of these fighters are in the early stages of their pro careers and both are looking to prove something here, so don't blink.

CFFC XVIII
Sat Oct 27 6:30PM ET
Cage Fury Fighting Championships is bringing professional MMA to Richmond, Virginia on October 27 with CFFC XVIII. This will be the first show of its kind in Central Virginia. Pro MMA fighters from the Mid-Atlantic area will compete on a 13-bout card held at the Richmond Raceway Complex as CFFC continues to expand into new markets along the Eastern seaboard.
In the main event, Mike Wade (3-2) battles UFC vet Kris McCray (8-3). Wade is a fighter that possesses great takedowns and likes to break the will of his opponents inside of the cage. His relentless attacks and ground control usually wear out his opponents. Wade has excellent cardio and likes to push the pace from the opening bell. But this fight will be Wade's toughest challenge to date as the caliber of his opponent is through the roof. McCray comes into the fight on a 3-fight win streak including a victory with Bellator. McCray is looking to get back into the UFC and an impressive win here could be the launching pad for that goal. McCray possesses KO power in both hands and he is always on the attack. With both fighters looking to be the aggressor, something has to give in this bout. Expect a barnburner from the opening bell.
In the co-main event, Johnny Curtis (7-2) fights Randy Smith (13-12-1) in a heavyweight tilt. Curtis is on a 6-fight win streak and will be looking for a submission from the get go. A grappling wizard, Curtis is one of the most feared heavyweights in Virginia as once the fight hits the mat, he is constantly working for a fight ending hold. Curtis has a strong takedown to go with his submission game. Smith is the type of fighter who is ready for anybody. He has fought under the Bellator banner as well as fought former UFC Champion Tim Sylvia. Smith will have the experience advantage and be looking to make short work of Curtis. Smith is a brute of a fighter and it takes a lot to get him off of his game. His punching power could be the difference in this battle of top rate heavyweights.

Absolute Action MMA 29
Sat Oct 27 7:30PM ET
Kentucky's #1 MMA promotion returns as Absolute Action presents Absolute Action MMA 29 emanating from Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky on October 27. MMA fans, this event is scheduled for 20+ bouts on a stacked pro/am card featuring the top up and combing prospects inside Northern Kentucky and the greater Cincinnati area. AAMMA is the premier MMA organization in the Bluegrass State and one of the Southeast region's top cage-fighting promotion's. You always get competitive, quality MMA with Absolute Action MMA.
In the main event, Tony Parker (8-7) fights Christopher Mierzwiak (3-2) in a pro middleweight shootout. Parker is a fan favorite at AAMMA because his fighting style is so unpredictable. Fighting with such a high risk-high reward has given Parker a following unlike most in the area. Of Parker's 15 fights, only 2 have gone to decision and it's because Parker is always looking to end fights, particularly on the ground with a slick submission, and sometimes while going for a move, he leaves himself open to a counter. Nevertheless, Parker is always in the running for fight of the night. For Mierzwiak, he has a strong submission game as well, as all 3 of his wins have come via stoppage and his only 2 losses were both decisions. Mierzwiak is the more calculated of the two fighters so that could pay dividends in the cage, but with Parker's style anything is possible.
In the co-main event, T.J. Wash (0-0, 9-1 amateur) battles James Morton, II (1-1, 7-1 amateur) in a lightweight pro battle. Wash is a former title holder in the amateur ranks and is known for having one of the most complete MMA games in the Ohio Valley. Wash can beat opponents in a variety of ways and has a good chunk of his wins via KO and submission. Wash likes to push the action and dictate the pace of the fight and see if his opponent can keep up. Morton, II is a fighter that likes to impose his will on his opponents and grind out victories. Morton, II has top level cardio and prefers to push his opponent to exhaustion and secure a decisive, one-side victory. These two different styles will play like a chess match in the cage when Wash and Morton, II hook em up.
You won't find more BANG for your buck so order this thrilling event. Be sure to catch all of the action LIVE on October 27 as Absolute Action presents Absolute Action MMA 29 including a championship bout in the welterweight division on pay-per-view exclusively at www.GFL.tv.
