Strikeforce officials have announced a lightweight contest for the undercard of "Melendez vs. Healy." Former Jungle Fight champion Adriano Martins will take on Isaac Vallie-Flagg on the card, which takes place Sept. 29 at the Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento.
Martins is 10-1 in his last 11 fights. His lone defeat during that stretch came against "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil" participant Francisco Trinaldo. During the span, he defeated UFC veteran Rony Torres and captured the Jungle Fight title.
Vallie-Flagg began his career 3-3, but since then he has gone undefeated with a 10-0-1 mark. In his last fight, he picked up the biggest win of his career when he upset K-1 Hero's standout Gesias Cavalcante via split decision at Strikeforce "Barnett vs. Cormier."
Considering the lack of depth in Strikeforce's lightweight division, fights like these could easily determine future title challengers. In the main event, Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez will defend his belt against Pat Healy.
