- "We're definitely interested in him and we have been for a while," UFC President Dana White stated at the UFC 153 post-fight press conference this past Saturday night. To the surprise of no one, especially his team and his manager Glenn Robinson, Eddie Alvarez has become the most sought after lightweight in the sport of mixed martial arts.

After scoring a thrilling first round head kick knockout over Patrick Friere at Bellator 76 last Friday night, upping his record to 24-3 with a total of 14 KO's, Alvarez is working his way through all the media requests and calls coming his way. TV industry reports are stating that Alvarez's KO was watched by over 175,000 viewers on MTV2, a ratings increase for the Viacom-owned network.

"This is an exciting time in my career," said Alvarez. "I've dedicated over ten years to this sport, and I believe I have another ten ahead of me. As for next steps, I will talk it over with my management team. It feels good to know that I'll have options. Few fighters have that luxury, and I'm thankful. My team, the Blackzilians and my Coaches at Jaco Hybrid Training Center will help me to stay sharp as I wait to see what's next. No matter what happens, I'll continue to give fans what they pay for."

"Eddie Alvarez is a great person and an incredible athlete and I am proud of where he is at this point in his career," said Glenn Robinson, President of Authentic Sports Management. "He has proven himself as one of the top lightweights in the world and I know he has great things ahead of him. Everyone at ASM is excited for Eddie's future and we are all behind him."

Alvarez fought Freire in the featured main event of Bellator 76, which took place in Windsor, Ontario, Canada and live on MTV2. Early in the first round Alvarez dropped Freire with a left-hook. Freire responded by landing a hard right. Alvarez quickly recovered and then found the opportunity to land a perfectly timed high kick to the head of his opponent, sending him to mat. Alvarez followed up with strikes before referee John McCarthy called a stop to the fight at 4:54 of the first round.

Later today, Alvarez will be talking to George Garcia (MMA Junkie Radio) at 1:30pm ET and Ariel Helwani (MMAFighting) at 2:20pm ET. Tomorrow, Eddie will talk to Steph Daniels of Bloody Elbow as well as Franklin McNeil of ESPN.com about his training with the Blackzilians and victory over Freire.
