In my opinion the technical level and matches in 2011 ADCC were the best ever surpassing even Brazil '03. Usually the final day of competition has warm non-exciting matches as fighters are more cautious as they get near the finals and as the level of the competitors increases the fights are more evenly matched. This was not true this year , while the level was super high even in the first round, fighters were extremely aggressive and going for the "kill" all the way to the finals.  Read more...

The final day of ADCC 2011 exceeded all expectations with Andre Galvao being the fighter of the day taking his weight and the Absolute in stunning fashion. Galvao defeated the super dangerous Rousimar Toquinho by points in a show of great skill. Read more...

Today the final day of ADCC 2011 is reserved for the strong of heart. The semi's, finals, Superfight and Absolute division goes on. It is like three tournaments in one. The final phase of the regular event will pit the four best in each category against each other. Then three rounds of the Absolute division take place. Leaving for the arena soon. The fighters are already tehre. Saw most of the top people this morning at breakfast. Both Braulio and Jacare look ready to go. Today we will see the first two rounds of the men's and the first round of the ladies.

ADCC officials conduted their rules meeting and weigh in. The room packed with competitors and coaches had the who's who of submission grappling.
