With little fanfare or explanation Championship Fighting Alliance have pushed back to October 6th CFA 8, originally scheduled for August 11th then changed to August 18th. Unconfirmed sources blame late venue changes however no official word is available at this time. The first four CFA shows were held at the U.S. Century Bank Arena in Miami, the next four (there was one “unnumbered” CFA event) at the Bank United Center.
CFA 8 was supposed to be presented as a pay-per-view webcast as it turns out on the same night as Strikeforce on Showtime.
This was to be the follow up to the June 30th CFA 7 where Luis Palomino defeated Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante, an impressive step up for the Florida-based promotion. This time around the main event was supposed to be Bellator vets Luis Santos and Valdir Araujo squaring off in the main event, a clash of American Top Team vs. MMA Masters.
At this time there is no word on how this changes CFA’s previously advertised schedule. CFA 9 was supposed to take place September 28th and CFA 10 November 2nd, CFA 8 being pushed back to October throws all this off.
The only news on CFA’s website concerns the ring card girls. Herrera it turns out has been a fan of MMA since the beginning while Caceres looks to inspire. Point is don’t bet on checking out cfafights.com for further details.
