Cochrane hands Stevenson fifth straight loss at RFA 3

TUF season 2 and sixteen-time UFC vet Joe Stevenson has a disappointing return to the independent scene as he fell to TFC vet Dakota Cochrane in the main event of Resurrection Fighting Alliance’s third show.  RFA 3 took place June 30th at the Viaero Event Center in Kearny, Nebraska with a live broadcast on Fight Now! TV as well as a pay-per-view webcast.

Stevenson started out trying to take down Cochrane but it was Cochrane who ended up on top before a sweep by Stevenson resulted in the fighters returning to their feet.  Cochrane landed the only real significant blow of the fight right before the end of the round, definitely a winning one for Cochrane.  In round 2 Cochrane landed some good knees before finding the rear-naked choke for the win, his twelfth career win and the end of his two-fight slide.  Stevenson meanwhile exits with five losses in a row, his last win being October 2009.

In the co-main event TPF vet Chidi Njokuani picked up his third win in a row with a decision over TFC vet Bobby Cooper.  Njokuani never seemed in trouble as he landed kicks, scored takedowns, and threw short elbows from top position for three rounds.  Njokuani, now 8-3, has won his last three in a row with this fight being his first to go to the judges.
