The change from HDNet to AXS is complete as this weekend’s Legacy Fighting Championship 12 show is listed as AXS Fights, whatever one calls it runs July 13th at 10 PM on the cable channel live from Houston, TX.  Interestingly Alistair Overeem will be the guest commentator joining Michael Schiavello.

Chad Robichaux kicking upChad Robichaux kicking upIn the main event the vacant flyweight title is on the line between local hero Chad Robichaux and Will Campuzano.  Robichaux’s thirteen-fight win streak was halted by Zach Makovsky in Bellator, a loss that was followed by another to Jonathan Mackles last July before Robichaux defeated Joseph Sandoval in May bringing the military hero to 14-2.  Campuzano is mainly known for his two losses in the UFC or to more hardcore fans his 1-2 record in WEC but the Texan is 10-4 overall with two wins since the UFC, Randy Hinds last August and Joshua Sampo in May.

Jay HieronJay HieronJay Hieron’s last two fights were rather eye-raising as many thought he lost the fight against Rick Hawn in the Bellator tournament finals but won the fight against Ben Askren for the title, the judges however saw it reversed with the split decision loss to Askren ending Hieron’s ten-fight win streak dating back to December 2007.  Now the journeyman takes on Romario Manoel da Silva, a Brazilian whose only other fight in the US in his 19-9-1 career was his most recent, a unanimous decision over Jaime Jara.  Hieron is definitely the favorite in this fight but don’t count out the heavy-handed “Junior Killer”.

He won the 2007 ADCC Worlds absolute division, he is 3-0 in MMA, now Robert Drysdale gets a shot at a wider audience as he takes on Dale Mitchell in arguably the most intriguing matchup of the card!  Drysdale started MMA in 2010 and has not only finished all three of his fights by submission in the first round, he did so in a total of just over four minutes.  His opponent Isaac Villanueva is 7-6 overall with six coming by KO/TKO.  Villanueva may have lost his last two fights but Drysdale arguably hasn’t faced such a striker making this fight likely turning on a takedown attempt.
