The UFC has announced a featherweight contest between Dustin Poirier and Jonathan Brookins. The fight has been added to "The Ultimate Fighter 16" Finale card, which takes place Dec. 15 at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Poirier made his Zuffa debut at WEC 50. In his first contest, he dropped a decision to Danny Castillo. After that, he won five-straight fights, which earned him a main event spot at UFC on Fuel TV 2. In the main event, he came up short against Chan Sung Jung in a contest that is a contender for "Fight of the Year" in 2012.

Brookins won the "The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck" tournament. In the finals, he bested Michael Johnson. Since then, Brookins has gone 1-2 with his lone victory coming over Vagner Rocha last February. In his last fight, he submitted to Charles Oliveira.

In the main event of "The Ultimate Fighter 16" Finale card, heavyweights Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson will face off. The two recently coached against each other on the most recent season of the UFC's reality show.
