Los Angeles, CA – October 2, 2012 – Global Proving Ground (GPG), a revolutionary platform that enables combat sports athletes to showcase their skills on a global level, continues to draw top martial arts talent from around the world through a series of casting calls being held for a new reality show series called ‘Warrior Island’. GPG’s most recent casting calls took place in Michigan, New Jersey, and the United Kingdom.
James Jefferson, president and CEO of GPG stated, "GPG’s latest round of casting calls for ‘Warrior Island’ well exceeded our expectations, from fighter participation to our elite list of respected hosts. Recent GPG casting calls were hosted by industry leaders such as MMA Legend Dan Severn, UCMMA Promoter Dave O’Donnell and Black Dragon Grand Master and Founder of Chinese GoJu Ryu, Ron Van Clief."
The casting call in Coldwater, MI hosted by MMA Legend Dan "The Beast" Severn attracted nearly 70 elite athletes within a five state radius, including TUF 12 alum Amir Khillah. The event was so successful that Dan Severn will be hosting second casting call on October 18 in Phoenix, Arizona. Stay tuned for more details.
According to Jefferson, "GPG has received commitments from numerous gyms and fight promotions around the world to host casting calls for ‘Warrior Island’. The response from the MMA community has been overwhelming! GPG was created to offer martial arts athletes of all disciplines, all over the world, a broad range of lucrative opportunities. We are very proud of how far we’ve come in such a short time and we could not have done it without the help of the martial arts community."
GPG will be release additional casting call dates and locations in the coming weeks, including another international casting call announcement. The organizations first international casting call, which took place in London, England during intermission at UCMMA’s "White Collar MMA 6" event at the prestigious Troxy Theatre, was a huge success.
David O’Donnell and the production crew from Power Up Media did an amazing job executing the casting call. Several high profile UK fighters made their way down to audition including rising MMA stars Alex Reid, former Bellator and UFC Heavyweight Contender Neil "Goliath" Grove, current UCMMA Welterweight and Middleweight Champion Jake "Brutal" Bostwick, Nick "HeadHunter" Champan, " and My big fat gypsy wedding" star Tony Giles.
GPG ‘Warrior Island’ auditions are open to martial artists of all weight classes, forms and disciplines, not just MMA fighters.
