Lyman Good (left) facing off with Omar de la Cruz
At Bellator 78, former Bellator champion Lyman Good and Andrey Koreshkov both punched their ticket to the finals of the season-seven welterweight tournament. Bellator CEO and Chairman Bjorn Rebney has announced that the pair will meet in the finals at Bellator 82.
The card takes place Nov. 16 at the Ryan Center in Kingston, R.I. The event is also expected to feature the semifinals of the lightweight tournament featuring Rich Clementi, Marcin Held, Dave Jansen and Ricardo Tirloni.
Good has reached the finals with back-to-back victories over Jim Wallhead and Michail Tsarev. The Team Tiger Schulmann fighter won the first Bellator welterweight tournament and inaugural title with victories over Hector Urbina, Jorge Ortiz and Omar de la Cruz. However, Good dropped the title to Olympian Ben Askren in his first title defense.
Koreshkov is coming off back-to-back wins over Jordan Smith and former Dream champion Marius Zaromskis. He currently holds a perfect 12-0 record with eight knockouts and three submissions.
The winner of the season-seven Bellator welterweight tournament will earn a shot at the promotion's champion: Ben Askren. Askren won the belt from Good in 2010 and has since defended the belt twice over Jay Hieron and Douglas Lima.
