Former WEC champion Miguel Torres
Former WEC champion Miguel Torres has been matched with Marlon Moraes for the debut of World Series of Fighting. The card takes place Nov. 3 at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
Torres was rumored to face Tyson Nam. However, a complicated contract situation made that fight impossible. The UFC released the former WEC champion for the second time after Michael McDonald stopped him in the first round at UFC 145. He left the promotion with a 2-2 record in the Octagon.
The representative of Tristar Gym defeated Chase Beebe for the WEC belt in 2008. He then went on to defend the title three times with wins over Yoshiro Maeda, Manny Tapia and Takeya Mizugaki.
Moraes will step into the WSOF arena coming off back-to-back wins under the XFC banner. In his last fight, he bested prospect Jarrod Card via first-round knockout.
In the main event of WSOF 1, former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski will take on Strikeforce veteran Devin Cole.
