TKOs by leg kicks are rare but that is exactly what happened at MFC 35 as Elvis Mutapcic not only did so against Joseph Henle, by doing so he became middleweight champion.  MFC 35 took place at the Mayfield Inn Trade and Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta with a main card televised live on ASXTV.

Round 1 was mostly Henle trying to use his reach advantage while Mutapcic used leg kicks until Henle circled into a right that knocked the TUF vet to the ground and forcing him to pull guard until the end of the round.  In round 2 Henle turned the tables, using his reach advantage to out-score Mutapcic with a late-round takedown by Henle basically sealing the scoring.  In the third however Mutapcic fired off a leg kick similar to the punch that dropped Henle in the first, this time damaging Henle’s leg to the point he could not defend himself and the bout was ended.

In the co-main event Graham Spencer defeated Shane Nelson in MFC’s first fight at featherweight.  For three rounds Spencer, a heavy underdog against the UFC vet, racked up points as he slowly and methodically cruised to a unanimous decision win.

MFC’s next schedule event is not until February 15th, no information is available at this time.
