Polish MMA promoter KSW has announced a fight between Mariusz Pudzianowski and
Marcin Najman. At a press conference on Tuesday, they said that the fight would
be the main event of KSW XII on Dec. 12.
Mariusz Pudzianowski is famous a strongman competitor. The 32-year-old Polish
power lifter has won more World’s Strongest Man titles than anyone in history.
In 2008, he won his record fifth title. This will be Pudzianowski’s MMA debut,
but he it will not be his first combat sports experience. He also has experience
in Kyokushin karate and has fought some amateur boxing bouts.
Marcin Najman is also coming to MMA after succeeding in another sport. Najman
is a professional boxer with a record of 13-4 with nine knockouts. On April 19,
2008, he fought for the Polish heavyweight title against Andrzej Wawrzyk, but
lost by TKO in the second round. Most recently, he defeated Anton Lascek by
unanimous decision in November of last year.
The fight is set to take place at heavyweight. Currently there is a huge weight
disparity between the fighters. At the press conference Pudzianowski weighed
305 pounds, while Najman stepped on the scale at only 230 pounds.
The card will also feature the finals of KSW’s middleweight tournament:
Aslambeck Saidov vs. Vitor Nobrega. The Ultimate Fighter 9 veteran Jeff Lawson
will take on Maciej Gorski. UFC veteran James Zikic will face Daniel Dowda.
