It used to be a mark of a successful show was feeding into the UFC such as TPF
and ROC. Now promotions are finding
success by feeding into the feeders. In
the first rush of big shows in the time of BodogFIGHT and EliteXC it was
HOOKnSHOOT holding a tournament for a BodogFIGHT contract and shows like KOTC
feeding into EliteXC. Recently NAAFS
stood out for feeding into Bellator, now Legends of Fighting (LOF) are feeding
into TPF.
LOF announced this weekend’s show will be the first of three to host an eight-man
bantamweight tournament with the winner earning a TPF contract and hopefully a
chance to make the UFC. LOF 51 “Little
Guns” takes place February 10th at the 8 Seconds Saloon in Indianapolis. There is also a fight for an alternate
position. The winners of this round
square off in the semifinals April 13th while the finals are tentatively
scheduled for June.
The show isn’t just about the bantamweights as UFC vet Sean McCorkle takes on
Mike Williams. Riding a four-win streak
McCorkle as reported in the archives just fought in NAAFS last weekend and is
already scheduled to fight in Bellator 60 March 9th.
LOF 51:
Christopher Collins vs. Tony Zelinski
Alptekin Ozkilic vs. Andrew Huffman
Darnell Davis vs. Rudy Gray
Chico Camus vs. Daniel Aguirre
Quinn Broomfield vs. Tom McKenna
Sean McCorkle vs. Mike Williams
Chris Price vs. Ray Lopez
