Watson to defend MW title against Marshman at BAMMA 9

Written by: Keith Mills

To mainstream fans the main news of BAMMA for over sixmonths has been Nate Marquardt signing to fight, to hardcore fans it has beenthe exposure of the European up-and-comers and not just English fighters.  Now that Marquardt and BAMMA have “mutually cancelledhis BAMMA contract” the show is rightfully focused on the next generation.  BAMMA 9 takes place at the National IndoorArena in Birmingham, England Mar 24th

BAMMA shows in 2011 were distributed several ways with BAMMA 6 being a webcastpay-per-view, BAMMA 9 webcast on Facebook, and BAMMA 10 broadcast in the US onHDNet.  Once again BAMMA change as thisshow has a one-week tape delay broadcast on Extreme Sports Channel in the UKbut at this time no confirmation on how it will be distributed to the rest ofthe world.

In the main event Tom Watson defends his MW title for the third time againstJack Marshman, the first Welshman to headline a major MMA event.  Watson has been training at Tristar inMontreal and Jackson’s in NM, holds wins over Matt Horwich and Murilo Rua, andis thought of as the best English MW title not under Zuffa contract.  Marshman is less known but is undefeated at10-0 in just over two years, victories over Carl Noon in BAMMA 7 and Lee Barnesin BAMMA 8 being his most recent fights.
