Melvin Guillard to try to get back on track against Fabricio Camoes at UFC 148

Melvin Guillard was easily only one fight away from a title fight, but since hehas lost back-to-back fights. Now, he will try to stop his losing skid againstFabricio "Morango" Camoes at UFC 148. The card takes place July 7 atthe MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

After knocking out Shane Roller in less than three minutes at UFC 132, Guillardheld a six-fight winning streak and was looking for a title shot. Instead hegot a fight against Joe Lauzon and submitted to a rear-naked choke in only 47seconds. He tried to get back on track against Jim Miller, but once again fellvictim to a first-round submission. Guillard holds victories over JeremyStephens, Ronys Torres, Gleison Tibau and Dennis Siver.

During his first stint in the UFC, Camoes went 0-1-1 and had his contractrevoked. However, the Brazilian was invited back after winning back-to-backfights under the Tachi Palace Fights banner. The wins came over UFC veteranSteve Lopez and TUF champion Efrain Escudero. In 2012, Camoes returned to theUFC and submitted Tommy Hayden at UFC on FX "Guillard vs. Miller."

UFC 148 is expected to feature a bantamweight title fight rematch. ChampionDominick Cruz will look to successfully defend his title against Urijah Faberfor a second time. Faber, the former WEC featherweight champion, previouslydefeated Cruz in 2007.
