Reynolds wraps Borgomeo in XFC 20

With his third straight win in Xtreme Fighting Championship at XFC 20 it looks like Eric Reynolds has emerged as that promotion’s main name at lightweight, a step above Nick Newell and Scott Holtzman at this time.  XFC 20 took place September 28th at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium in Knoxville, TN with a live broadcast on AXS.

With Reynolds being known for his Muay Thai and kickboxing it was little surprise Lorenzo Borgomeo tried to keep the Dungeon fighter at a distance with leg kicks or take him down, what was surprising is the amount of damage Borgomeo managed to inflict when Reynolds would tie up.  Most thought with Bellator vet Borgomeo coming off a loss and making his XFC debut on this card in the main event that he was being brought in to be a somewhat easy win for fellow Bellator vet Reynolds however following the fight most of the response has been “Reynolds can take a lot of punishment”, especially with Borgomeo doing well with knees in the clinch and counter-punching.  Round 1 was so close it probably went to Borgomeo based on the late-round takedown, round 2 however Reynolds shot for a takedown and secured a guillotine choke.  Reynolds now advances to 16-5 overall, Borgomeo falls to 9-5.

Also on the main card Scott Holtzman defeated Chris Coggins and Sofia Bagherdai defeated Sarah Maloy with both being first-round TKOs, Joby Sanchez submitted Chris Dunn in the first, Drew Kennedy took out Anthony Lemon by submission in the first, Nate Landwehr scored a TKO over Chris Wright, and Shah Bobonis won the only main-card decision over Cornelius Godfrey.
