Thiago Silva celebrating his short-lived victory over Brandon Vera
Multiple media sources have reported that light heavyweights Thiago Silva and Stanislav Nedkov will face off on UFC on Fuel TV 6. The card takes place Nov. 10 and marks the UFC's first trip to Macau.
Silva has not tasted victory since defeating Keith Jardine in 2009. After an apparent victory over Brandon Vera at UFC 125 was wiped out by a suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, the Brazilian has to spend a full year on the sidelines. He returned last April and dropped a unanimous-decision verdict to Alexander Gustafsson.
Earlier in his career, Silva began his UFC run with four-straight victories including first-round stoppages of Houston Alexander and James Irvin. Before signing with the UFC, he scored victories over Bellator regular Vitor Vianna and Dream veteran Tatsuya Mizuno.
Nedkov signed with the UFC back in 2010. However, a serious of injuries to the fighter and his opponents pushed his debut back until last August. In his promotional debut, he bested Luiz Cane with a late-first round knockout. That victory gave him the odd distinction of being the only foreign fighter to defeat a Brazilian at UFC 134.
The Bulgarian made his name with back-to-back victories over UFC veterans Travis Wiuff and Kevin Randleman.
The UFC will head to Macau, a "special administrative region" of China, for the first time this fall. In the main event, former UFC champion Rich Franklin returns to action to face former Strikeforce champion Cung Le.
