UFC veteran War Machine
War Machine has now been released from lock up for the second time. News of the UFC veteran's release was announced on former MMA manager Ken Pavia's Twitter.
Formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver, Machine competed on the sixth season of "The Ultimate Fighter." On the show, he lost to Tommy Speer in the first round of the reality show competition. On the finale card, he scored a come from behind victory over fellow cast mate Jared Rollins. In the third round, he executed a sweep and finished with strikes from the top.
War Machine then dropped his next fight to Yoshiyuki Yoshida via anaconda choke at UFC 84. Despite the 1-1 record in the promotion, public comments about recently deceased UFC veteran Evan Tanner resulted in his release from the promotion. From 2008-2011, the fighter went 7-2 with victories over Mikey Gomez, Zach Light and Roger Huerta. However, he also served two stints in prison.
According to BloodyElbow, he is hoping to resign with Bellator Fighting Championships. He had signed on to compete in the last welterweight tournament, but was unable to take part due to his criminal record.
